Our hearts beat for
Materials
Clothing should form a protective shell for newborn babies. The choice of material has an influence on their well-being. Does it feel the moisture when something leaks? Does it scratch or itch somewhere because bacteria may accumulate through sweating? This can also be due to synthetic fibres. You should avoid them. Nature offers true treasures that help your newborn child to feel comfortable. Natural materials such as cotton, silk, sheep's wool, alpaca and cashmere promote its health and development.

Wool
Skin tolerant and the all star in summer or winter
When talking about wool in terms of materials, a distinction is made between new wool and merino wool. Merino wool is a particularly high-quality form of (pure) wool. It is obtained from merino sheep and is characterised by its special fineness and softness. Wool is a natural product and comes primarily from sheep. In this context, the term "pure new wool" means that the material is made from 100 percent new (non-recycled) wool that comes from living animals. Like all animal fibres, wool fibre consists of keratin, i.e. fibrous proteins that also form human hair and nails.
No other fibre, whether synthetic or of natural origin, combines as many positive properties as new wool:
Wool can absorb water vapor inside the fiber, but the surface repels water. It can absorb up to a third of its dry weight in water without feeling damp. In addition, it wicks moisture away from the body much faster than cotton, for example. Wool insulates well against cold and also heat. It adapts to the shape of the body, is dirt-repellent and balances the temperature. Wool does not stink (even after prolonged wear) and therefore needs to be washed less often. It cools by evaporative cooling at warm temperatures and also warms when it is damp (actively generates heat when it absorbs moisture), retains its fit or hardly creases at all. Wool is flame-retardant (unlike other fibres such as synthetic fibres), has a natural sun protection factor of up to 50 (depending on density and weave), does not become electrostatically charged (unlike synthetic materials) and most importantly, is biodegradable.
When selecting our wool products we make sure that our suppliers are GOTS certified. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognised as the world's leading standard for processing textiles made from organically produced natural fibres. At a high level, it defines environmental requirements along the entire textile production chain and at the same time demands compliance with social criteria. Furthermore, we attach great importance to the kbT (controlled organic animal husbandry). This is not primarily about the pastures, but about the treatment of the animals themselves.
Also with wool you should always follow the respective care instructions on the wash label, as there are also differences here depending on the wool quality.
Both types of wool (merino & new wool) have self-cleaning properties, which is why it is often sufficient to air the garments. If there is visible soiling, you can also just wash the area by hand in cold water without rubbing it hard.
When washing wool, it is important to remember that wool has a high fat content and needs this to retain its properties. Therefore, do not leave wool in the water for a long time. Be careful not to wring the garment, as it could become deformed. Better: roll it up briefly in a towel and lay it flat on a new towel on the clothes horse to dry, but not in the sun or on the heating! Tip: Use spit-up cloths to protect your baby when you are breastfeeding, and later use bibs when he eats his porridge. This way you avoid food getting stuck in the fibres and additional washing.

Wool & Silk
The all-rounder
Wool & Silk is an almost magical material that combines the best properties of both raw materials. Especially for baby clothing it is a well-known and popular material, but wool & silk clothing is also becoming more and more popular for sports and outdoor activities.
Wool & silk adapts to virtually any situation and any temperature. In winter and in cold weather the wool warms. In summer and during physical exertion the silk cools down and the wool conducts excess heat outwards. In addition, the body is better protected against UV radiation in sunlight than with conventional cotton clothing.

Use cold water and a special wool detergent. Be careful not to wring the garment as it could become deformed. Better: roll it briefly in a towel and lay it flat to dry on a new towel on the clothes-horse, but not in the sun or on the radiator!
